Rocket Jets Demolition

Well, these are just sad...!

I think this second one is a very Southern California future with the palm tree overhead. It also seems like a ridiculous shot with the beautiful day and a missing attraction! (Well, two missing attractions.)

Neat, but sad post…

I have a question for you. Is the 1967 Rocket-Jet mechanism the same one as the 1956 Astro-Jets? I always just assumed (mistake) that they built an “all new” Rocket-Jet ride in 67',

Looking at old 1950’s Astro-Jet photo’s and comparing them to 1990’s Rocket Jet photo’s, it sure looks like the same hydraulic cylinders, center section, bars and mechanics.

Has that thing really been spinning since 1956? If so, I guess I will give it a better look next time and show it a little respect….

I believe it's the same mechanism. If somebody knows for sure, chime in! Otherwise, I'll check with Bob next week.

These demolition photos are really interesting, even if they show the removal of beloved icons!! You must have gone to the park all the time back in those days.
