Fort Wilderness Photos

No anniversary to commemorate here and nothing much to say, either, but I wanted to share some Fort Wilderness photos, ca. 1997, that I scanned this weekend.

And a final photo showing the signage which sadly went unheeded at Fort Wilderness:

Great photos! What a loss it was when they tore this down.

Wow, thanks for the trip to the old Fort. Seriously, how hard (or expensive) would it be to put this back the way it was???? I would have used the $$$ they spent on the river updates to rebuild the fort, much better use of funds.

Heartbreaking as to what it has become.

Whoa, I'm late to the party on this post! Awesome photos. If anything, I would want MORE fort and related structures to explore, but I guess the company has to consider the potential legal liability.

This was the best part of the island. So sad that it has become Fort Home Depot.

I'm late too, in reading your post. I agree with everyone's comments....such a terrible loss for the island and the park.

I always wondered what was on the other side of that locked door (second pic) after they got rid of the fort's secret escape tunnel.

Thanks for sharing these wonderful photos!

Really awesome photos, and I wish I had more memories of this...I remember Injun Joe's cave rather vividly but not much of the rest of the island. Thanks for sharing!

And forgive me, just a brief plug here, as I have a newly started up blog of scans of vintage Disneyland material from my own collection. Greatly appreciated if you felt like coming by to check it out as you will, and sorry for the blatant promotion heh. Site is here: http://dlandephemera.blogspot.com/
