Every joke has a kernel of truth to it; sometimes it just takes thirty years for the truth to become so. From Backstage Disneyland's Winter 1969 issue:
I wonder if any guests ever asked castmembers if the castle moat swans are rented?? Some cool costume shots. The 1967 Rocket Jets used the ckeckered shirt for only a few years--and the Monorail costume shown was replaced with new styles that same year of 1969.
Being a frustrated illustrator / cartoonist, I couldn't help but comment. Is it just me, or does the "Gregory Guest" drawing remind anyone else of George Bush wearing mouse ears?? Cheers!!!
When I worked at the Swiss Family Treehouse in the 80s, I was asked on SEVERAL occasions if the turning waterwheel with the bamboo buckets was a "ride"! Oh yeah sure, hop on!
These are great! Then there is always, "When is the two o'clock parade?"
ReplyDeleteHa ha, I'm sure nobody would have EVER guessed that it would be Tarzan's tree someday!
ReplyDeleteI would love to ride in the upstairs submarine.
That's ironically funny and sad... Who knew the "joke" would become reality and in reality it's a "joke"!
ReplyDeleteNice post - Welcome back to the blog-o-sphere...

ReplyDeleteHa ha! I definitely got "is this popcorn fresh" in Outdoor Vending in '83.
ReplyDelete"Is this the ride where you go in and come out"...ha ha! Classic.
