A Walk in the Park: Day Five

We've finally arrived at the Central Plaza! I'm glad we're here, because this is one of my favorite areas of Disneyland.

If I could have worked all my shifts at the Information Board, I certainly would have!

What can one say?

There are often service vehicles on Main Street when the Park is closed; I'm happy to have avoided that here.

Kevin Yee liked this second photo enough to use it on the cover of the preview edition of Mouse Trap.

Well, the Park's going to open soon, so what better place to leave you? If you move off quietly, you may be able to avoid attracting Security's attention. So go off to explore your favorite corner of Disneyland before Guests arrive, but remember--I never saw you!

  1. Cool, thanks for sneaking us in early! Those last two shots are amazing. I have a question about the "Information Board". How does the CM get the info about the ride times and how often to they update the board? I've never seen the board get updated. Of course I haven’t hung around for hours, but it seems like it must be just an estimate, at best.

  2. I too enjoyed the Info Board, but most of my time was spent in City Hall or on "tour." I was also an "Info Trainer," so to answer your question...we call the attraction every hour and ask, its updated every hour on the hour, but sometimes there is no update!

  3. I would go to the Information Board and ask them where babies come from.

  4. There's a business located off the 55 freeway in Orange called "The Question Shop". I tell my wife that she should go in and ask them, "Do these pants make me look fat"?

Regarding the Main Street view of the castle, you could say that the statue ruins a perfectly good sight line. Is there any truth to the rumor that Imagineering pushed for that Partners statue to prevent any more Ferris Wheels from being placed in the Hub planter?

On a related note, is there any truth to the rumor that the mechanics for the Dream Machine were buried for possible future use?

I *do* like the last picture. Thanks for sharing.

  5. Trivia Question: The Information Board is currently staffed by Guest Relations, but what department was originally responsible for the board?
